A shirasaya, which means "concealing
scabbard" (loosely translated), is a
mostly-featureless Japanese sword meant for safe holding
japanese blades when not in formal fittings. This style
of mounting the blade was traditionally utilised for
safe keeping or transporting a blade of importance.
Shirasaya became synonmous with the swords concealed
as walking sticks when warriors had to hide them from the government.
Shirasaya style blades would likely never make their
way onto a battle-field. However some examples of 'Shirasaya'
type blades can be found in cloaked swords ( Ex. Hidden
in canes, musical instruments, etc. )
Our Shirasaya is a full 38-1/2 inches long with a
27-1/2 inch blade. Blade is 440 Stainless.
