Odachi 61 Inch 1060 Carbon Steel Katana

When the foot soldiers became important in battle, a very long sword was created for their use and specific skills. Legend has it that this blade was be able to cut a man and horse in half.

Odachi's (known as The Great Sword) were oversized swords made in the Katana form. In all respects they are the same as the Katana, except in their greater length.

When this sword became illegal, they were shortened to the normal, Katana length, or used as ceremonial swords. Odachi's were used as an offering to the god, dedicated towards the winning of a war.

Our Odachi is an impressive 61" long with a 35" blade. These odachi's are hand forged 1060 high carbon steel. Each blade is double edged for authenticity. Comes with an authentic top grade ray skin wrapped handle. Black Laquered finished scabbard. Comes with sword bag.
