Our Skull Splitter Mace is rather unusual and one of our favorites.  This little mace is 13" Long.  The shaft is made from polished hardwoods.  The metal spikes are mounted on a round steel  rim and are very sharp.  In between the spikes are inlayed cast vampire skulls.  There is a 3-1/2" sticker  hidden in the handle.  The sticker is made from 440 stainless  mounted in a round piece of hardwood.  another Vampire skull is mounted on the bottom.  The sticker fits well in the handle and will not slip out when this mace is carried.   This piece comes with a rubber sheath to prevent sticking yourself as you carry it.

A morning star is medieval club-like weapons, that resembles a mace,  that included one or more spikes.  They were used with a combination of blunt-force and puncture attack to kill or wound the enemy.
The spikes distinguish it from a mace, which can have, at most, flanges or small knobs.  The mace and morning star was used by both infantry and cavalry.  It was well known as the horseman's weapon.  The mace was a traditional knightly weapon that developed somewhat independently; as the mace transitioned to being constructed entirely of metal, the morning star retained its characteristic wooden shaft.
The morning star came into widespread use around the fourteenth century.  Germans loved this weapon and called it a Morgenstern.   Although it is often assumed that the morning star was a crude peasant weapon that is not correct.  Peasants did use the morning star because they ere effective for self defense and easy to make.  All in all we know of  three types of morning stars that differ in quality and workmanship.  One was used by the professional soldier, one was used by the peasant militia men, the third was decorative and used in ceremonies.
